1. Having privacy settings set AND putting “friends” into lists should help you to engage more in Facebook and also feel more comfortable to “accept” more friends and therefore expanding your network.

2. Remember, Real Estate is very much a referral business and isn’t Facebook a referral network? It is said that people do business with those they know, like and trust. And, consider also that they do business with those they stay in touch with that they also remember are in the business. Use Facebook to stay in touch with your sphere of influence and referral network.

3. Facebook makes it very easy to keep up with friends, family, colleagues and contacts Birthdays.
Use Facebook as a reminder to make Birthday wishes as one more way to stay in touch.

4. Reach out to about 10-15 contacts per week and send them a personal message. You will find that Facebook makes it easy to keep up with their lives, interests and what they have been up to. That should help you with staying in touch and on a more personal level. Think of how much more intimate that is, as opposed to perhaps just sending an e-mail?

5. Ask your network to assist you with marketing ideas or even engage them in their opinions about what you are doing in your real estate business. You will find that people like to help other people and you will also find that they like to share their opinion(s) as well.

6. It may be appropriate to post 1 business post to every 5 or so personal posts. Use those opportunities to showcase your expertise in your marketplace and also in your business as an industry expert.
